In Canada, health care and beauty industry are a $ 5 billion offering thousands of products and many of them say they are good for the skin. Advertising inundates us messages on the qualities of these products, but how can you be sure that if we buy, they will keep their promises?
When you read about a product that was "Dermatologist tested" or "dermatologist approved", it can reassure us on the quality of the product sold over that you buy because, having been examined by a professional it should produce the desired results. The reality is that these phrases mean nothing specific or nothing more than dermatologists have tried this product at the request of the manufacturer. That is why various organizations have created labels for products recommendation: for example, the Canadian Dermatology Association has created a label recommendation for sunscreens, as the American Dental Association and Canada have done so for their dental products including toothpaste.
